The Ganga Outsav 2024 celebration will be organized by the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) November 4 at Chandi Ghat in Haridwar. NMCG celebrates the opportunity to inspect the anniversary to declare the Ganges River as a ‘national river’ every year.
The motif behind the festival’s most important concept is to increase the preservation of the Ganges river, raise awareness of its cultural and spiritual significance and create general interest in cleanliness.
This will be the eighth version of the incident, and the first will be placed on the width of the river. The event will also be seen in the states Ganga Basin in 139 districts of the district Ganga Committees.

Apart from this, there will also be a magnificent event in the state of each state. The central incident of the ganga is seen with Pomp and Show, led by Union Minister Jal Shakti, Shri C. R. has been led by Patil.
The inauguration function would see the attendance of some of the eminent personalities, such as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami; Minister of State for Jal Shakti, Shri Raj Bhushan Chaudhary; and Secretary, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Mrs. Debashree Mukherjee.
Apart from that, other notable guests from Union and State Governments are also expected to attend. The event will also include the flag-off ceremony for the forthcoming Ganga Women Rafting Expedition in association with BSF.
The 50-day-long expedition will end at Ganga Sagar, covering 9 big cities & towns along the Ganga River. This historical expedition will coincide with different activities being organized in different districts of the five pivotal states of the Ganga basin.
This year’s event will be celebrated as a model event for river celebration and is expected to be hosted by a number of river cities under the auspices of the River City Alliance. The alliance has been formed with 145 river cities of the nation.
The primary goal of the alliance is to realize healthy city rivers through an integrated strategy of river-friendly urban planning which envisions pollution-free and perennially flowing rivers revered by one and all, resulting in water-secure cities for inclusive and sustainable urban growth.
The festival will also provide a valuable platform to project the cultural and spiritual significance of rivers in our society. During the festival, there will be a session called “Ganga Samvad” where discussions will be held between distinguished persons, spiritual and religious leaders, and other key personalities on several subjects.

The purpose of such a samvad is to encourage the youth towards river conservation and awareness generation. A technical session will also be held during which experts will discuss the major issues regarding river rejuvenation.
There will also be a program named Ghat Par Haat, as well as different stalls organized by local departments to present the elements of the Namami Gange project. There will be a variety of activities for children to involve them in river conservation through quizzes, showings of films, magic, puppetry, and drawing and painting competitions.
Nukkad Nataks that will create awareness among young people regarding river conservation will also be conducted. There will also be a specific session on the cultural passage of rivers and the legends behind them.
An exhibition on Namami Gange will be made a part of the Ganga Mahotsav, featuring different aspects of this initiative. In addition, a mini food festival will also be a part of the celebrations of the Ganga Mahotsav. ‘Ganga Utsav 2024’ would encourage people’s bonding with the river and advance the mission of the Ganga River conservation.

The second and equally important goal of the festival is to make the audience more aware of cleanliness and to motivate people to make joint efforts to prevent and revive river pollution.
